Vellore district police department has banned heavy vehicles from entering Vellore city during day time. The heavy vehicle drivers had an argument with the traffic police protesting this sudden order. Due to this problem, the traffic on the national highway in Vellore was affected for about 2 hours.

Thousands of trucks, containers and heavy vehicles go to various cities every day through the Chennai-Bangalore National Highway located through Vellore. Similarly, heavy vehicles coming from Bangalore to Vellore on Tuesday tried to enter Chavez Road near Green Chalk to reach Tirupati via Gadpadi and Chittoor.

At that time, the traffic police stopped heavy vehicles and prevented heavy vehicles from entering the city due to traffic congestion. He advised to go to the National Highway through the flyover. But the heavy vehicle drivers refused to go that way and stopped there. The traffic on the national highway was affected as the vehicles that came one after the other stopped on the road.

On being informed about this, Assistant Inspector of Traffic Police Rajini rushed to the spot and informed that the district police administration has announced that heavy vehicles should not be allowed in the city from 7 am to 7 pm.

Therefore, all heavy vehicles will be allowed to enter the city between 9 pm and 7 am. So he asked the heavy vehicle drivers to take the vehicles now.

For that, heavy vehicle drivers have to travel for several kilometers if they suddenly refuse to allow vehicles. So, he requested to allow only one day today and we will come into the city only at night from Wednesday. However, the traffic police, who refused to accept their request, said that all heavy vehicles, except for essential items, should only go on the national highway.

The drivers, who refused to accept this, stopped the heavy vehicles there and argued with the police. Traffic was affected for about 2 hours due to this.

Accordingly, the police should immediately take away all the vehicles parked on the road. He warned that in case of violation, a case will be registered for obstructing the traffic.
